Eszopiclone is the generic form of the sleeping pill sold under the brand name Lunesta. It is primarily used to treat people suffering from sleep disorders such as insomnia and in some cases obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Eszopiclone has been known to help you fall asleep faster while simultaneously helping you to stay asleep longer. It belongs to a classification of drugs known as non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotics. Non-benzodiazepine medications are a newer class of medications most commonly known as Z drugs. This classification of drugs is regularly used for the treatment of insomnia.
